ÅKP Summit: Terje Bøe shares the story behind the Spilka innovation Fixade
Oct 27, 2025
When the ÅKP Summit gathers business leaders at Storfjord Hotel on November 21–22, Spilka's director Terje Bøe will be one of the speakers on the second day. He will share the story of how an ambitious board resolution was the starting point of an innovation journey that is now making Spilka a finalist for the Construction Industry's Innovation Award 2025.
— We started with a clear mandate from the board: to explore new solutions based on real needs in the market. From there, we proceeded systematically – from 18 sketches to one finished solution. That became Fixade, tells Bøe.

Cuts installation time in half
Fixade and Fixade Solar have become examples of innovation in practice. The system cuts the installation time for facade panels in half using a modular rail system without screws – and provides a tight, weather-resistant climate screen that withstands an increasingly wetter climate.
With Fixade Solar, Spilka has taken the concept one step further: Solar panels are seamlessly integrated into the facade without compromising the design.
— We must utilize the gray areas we already have, instead of taking more nature. Fixade Solar provides energy without disrupting the aesthetics or construction process, says Bøe.

The jury: — A sure winner
The jury for the Construction Industry's Innovation Award has described Spilka's work as “a sure winner – the optimal innovation process”. At the ÅKP Summit, Bøe shares how the interaction between the board and administration became the key to success – and how such processes can inspire more companies to think differently about both strategy and innovation.
— A role model for many

Elisabeth Remøy.
— We have seen few of this type of innovation runs in the region here, and we hope that Terje's story will motivate more boards and companies to see the value of daring to think differently about both strategy and innovation processes, says Elisabeth Remøy, communications advisor at ÅKP.
