“Ethical Resilience in a Geopolitically Polarized World" investigates the intersection of business ethics and resilience within Norwegian companies, with a focus on the export-oriented maritime cluster in Møre og Romsdal. This region, highly involved in international trade, faces significant challenges due to geopolitical shifts, such as the sanctions following the war in Ukraine, which have forced companies to make tough ethical and business decisions. The project aims to explore whether ethical considerations and resilience can coexist or even reinforce each other in such a volatile global landscape.
Given the importance of resilience in the face of increased geopolitical tensions and disruptions, the project seeks to develop strategies for companies to maintain ethical business practices while building resilience against external shocks. It involves conducting in-depth interviews with companies affected by the sanctions against Russia, aiming to contribute to the academic discourse on balancing efficiency and resilience in global business environments.
The project also plans to develop an analytical framework for ethical resilience, providing a practical checklist for companies to navigate turbulent geopolitical climates without compromising ethical standards. This initiative aligns with the "Hele Norge eksporterer" export reform and is poised to enhance regional business practices, contributing to sustainable industrial development and potentially influencing policy aimed at bolstering local economies.
