The project explores existing battery swap systems and seeks to adapt and innovate for maritime applications, focusing on small and medium-sized boats. It proposes the use of standardized and mass-produced batteries and charging solutions from the automotive industry to benefit from lower costs and scalability. A virtual prototype will be developed to evaluate the concept further, with research conducted on the feasibility of using electric car batteries and employing electric car charging stations for maritime use. The initiative promises to open up a vast market by retrofitting existing boats and offering a flexible, scalable solution that can be rapidly deployed, contributing to sustainable maritime mobility and supporting green corridors like the Geirangerfjord.
